Mother's Day, how it all began.

Mother's Day was invented by a dark and evil coven consisting of amongst others The post office, Greetings card companies and Florists, they would meet once a year in the circle of Stonehenge, these were the same twisted minds that had conjured up Christmas.

Finba O'Shornacy, stood quietly in the shadows behind one of the giant stones, listening to the monsters plotting their next assault on the poor unsuspecting consumers, suddenly he whispered
' What a load of rubbish, I've never heard the likes of it! Where the hell did they git you from, call ye'self an author, yer just making it up as yer go along!'

'No I'm not'

'Look-it, yer not fooling anyone, least of all me, I'll tell ye how mothers day started'

'A long, long time ago back in Greece there was dis women called Rhea, known as the Earth Mother, the Mother of the Gods and Men, among others Poseidon, Zeus, Hades etc.

Later Mothering Sunday came about in England, around the seventieth century, celebrated on the 4th Sunday of Lent, Lent being a forty-day period of soul-searching, repentance and fasting before Easter, I guess they dropped Mothers day in the middle to cheer everyone up!

At the time many folk were employed as servants, living and working in the Masters house, however, on Mothering Sunday the servants would take the day off to visit their old mam and the family, taking with them a cake, Brilliantly named Mothering Cake! This may seem a pretty obvious name to you and I, but at that time the IQ of the entire English population was only equivalent to that of a small mouse!

'So mister your story about witches and such like is a load of old bull, I don't know what this company is tinkin employing the likes of you, they should get demselfs a proper auth....'

Just at that moment one of the witches turned and noticed O'Shornacy ranting and raving away, the witch raised her hand and with one wave of her magic wand turned O'Shornacy into a hideous bloated frog, and that was the end of O'Shornacy.

Click on File and from the dropdown menu select page setup as shown.

From the pop up box choose Paper Size

From the Paper size drop down menu select A5.

Then, just below the Paper Size menu check the Landscape radio button.

You're now ready to print to a 6 x 4 card blank.

If you need other sizes then simply measure your card and input sizes in the width and height boxes.

Using Text boxes

Using a text box will make life a whole lot easier.
Text boxes can be moved a few millimetres at a time, unlike placing your text directly onto the page when you place your text into a box you can move it to anywhere on the page.

How to Make a Box

Click on Insert, from the dropdown menu select Text Box

Now look at your mouse pointer, it should have changed to a cross.

Press the left mouse button and hold it down, now drag your mouse to the right and down, this will form a box.

When you're happy with the size just release the mouse button, don't worry too much about the size as you can adjust that in the next step.

Now that you've got your box you'll need to format it, you can add or remove borders, change colours and size.

Position your mouse pointer over the edge of the box, then press the right mouse button
You should now see a dropdown menu, move your mouse pointer down the selections to Format Text Box, select the option and a pop up box will appear..

From the pop up box you'll be able to change just about everything to do with your text box, Just have a play around and see what you come up with.

To move a Box

Move your mouse pointer over the border, press the left mouse button, you can now simply drag the box to anywhere on the page using your mouse.
